Review file paths, module names, and PHP version before deploying — they vary by distro and hosting provider. On Apache, .htaccess can only proxy via mod_rewrite's [P] flag — directives like ProxyPass, ProxyPreserveHost, and ProxyPassReverse aren't allowed there at all, even with AllowOverride All. That means a .htaccess-only proxy can't forward the original Host header or rewrite redirects from the backend — for that level of control, add the proxy rules to the virtual host config instead.
